Grade school ponderings
The other day at lunch we were talking about school. The girls are 1 week away from the kickoff of the 2010-2011 school year, so, I thought we'd spend part of lunch talking about what they are excited about and what they are nervous about. The regulars came up: new teachers, getting to see friends, the school garden, new backpacks, lunch in the cafe, etc.
Addie mentioned how much harder 1st grade will probably be. Then she went on to pontificate about how every year of school will probably get harder until she is all the way done with college. Then she said, "And after you are done with college you go and get yourself a man."
Just like that, all as a matter of factly.
I said, "Where do you go to get one of those?"
She replied, "Californiaaa, of course."
So, men of the collegiate graduating class of 2026, be on the lookout for a pint sized little pistol that will be on the hunt for her man. One thing you can be sure of, she'll tell you what she thinks about you-like it or not.
Next week I'll have a 1st grader & a 3rd grader.
