Saying Goodbye to Summer
Tomorrow school starts. Emma's 1 st day of 1st grade and Thursday is Addie's 1st day of preschool. I must admit I am a fan of "the same." I love ordering the same donut every time we visit the donut store, I love the same ice cream at the ice cream shop, and the same prime rib meal at our favorite steak house (am I healthy or what!). Change is challenging for me. The only change I don't mind, oddly, is my birthday. I welcome every year of age with excitement and zest! I do mind the New Year (it is always so hard to say goodbye to such a fun year, don't ask me what makes it different from a birthday?!) and I also mind the end of summer. I love seeing my kiddos from the front and not from the back as they walk into their classrooms. We had a such a great summer.
Most of the summer Addie looked just like this....sticky, smiling, and with multiple dirt smudges.
Emma looked like this...up in a tree with "nature."
The girls' feet looked just like this....barefoot! Shoes are sooo overrated. (Except the adorable plum colored patent leather little numbers with the decorative ballies I bought last week at Old Navy...right hubby?).
The three of them often looked like this.....
or this...
Our Little Pets will just have to wait until after school to get their dirt coats, or as Emma calls them Joseph's Technicolor Dream Coat.
More dirt pies to come next summer...I hope...I hope my kids never outgrow those:)
I hope God is easing you into your September like He is me.
