Moses & Motherhood

I am cloaked with little people.  Sometimes I feel like Moses parting the Red Sea, only I am trying to part the children in my midst, so I can get to the kitchen sink, or the washing machine, or the toilet.  I need a staff and a miracle to make that happen.

Sometimes, as I move about the house, I feel like I am traveling amongst a swarm of people-like I am walking the busy sidewalks of New York.  Wherever I go, they are there & if they are not there, they are not far behind.  Over 4,000 square feet of home and everyone is standing within my one square foot.

I often think to myself, there are so many fun places to be in this house and so many fun things to do, surely standing by my feet can't be that much fun.  The funny thing is, the best part of motherhood is just that, being close by mommy is THAT much fun.

I love the mental picture:  how my kids are with me, is how my God desires me to be, with him.  Close. Together.  Along side.  Reliant.  Steadied by HIS presence.  Sure, because He is sure.

Exodus 33:14 "And He said, "My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.  Then he said to Him, "If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here."
