My BFF
Do you remember these necklaces?
If you used to "peg" your pants, sport LA gear high tops or wore a side ponytail-
then you most likely wore one of these.
then you most likely wore one of these.
Back in the day, it was the most cool way to announce you were a BFF (aka Best Friends Forever). You would go to Claire's at the mall & pick out your two-halves make a whole BFF necklace and you'd be jolly friends forever more, more, more. BFF's are so junior high for me. Quintessential 1980's tween years...layered socks (in multiple colors-white on top of red on one leg and red on top of white on the other leg), acid washed jeans, big bangs that were hair sprayed up in a fan-like wave, neon colored anything, banana hair clips & massive scrunchies, off the shoulder sweaters, and days jammin' to Walk Like an Egyptian by the Bangles in my FloJo's & fake RayBan's, and rockin' out to more classics by Lisa Lisa & the Cult Jam & Debbie Gibson.
Fast forward 20 years...and this is what I have:
This morning at breakfast,Brian asked Addie if she wanted to go
drop off the car at the mechanic with him.
She said, "Is mommy going?"
Daddy replied, "No, she is going to stay here."
To which Addie replied, "Then I'm going to stay home with mommy, she's my new BFF."
Like anyone who didn't make up lip sync' dances to NKOTB (aka New Kids On The Block),
Daddy, asked all bewildered, "What is a BFF??"
Addie then went junior high on him, rolled her eyes, and said with a tween twang,
"Uh, Daddy...best friends forever?!"
So, today I have a new BFF.
Someone to wear a side pony with & wear matching polo shirts with our collars flipped up.
So rad.
Here is me & my new BFF (minus the very cool silver best friends locket).
Now go Walk Like an Egyptian and Beat It!!
